Dear Participants, here are some updates:

We have a total of 800 abstracts accepted for oral and poster presentations.

We will also have four Plenary Lectures plus the Bingham Lecture, the Metzner Lecture and the Walters Lecture. These Lectures will be given “live” for all participants (only one session at a time), followed by a 10-15 min Q&A Session.

We will have a Sponsor/Exhibitor page, where you will be able to see the new equipment and innovations in the area of Rheology, and also interact with the companies. Please visit them and talk about all the possibilities!

We would like to remember that only papers with at least one author registered will be in the program. The deadline for presenters registration is November 1st.

The submission for the Gallery of Photos Contest is still open until November 1st. After the submission, the authors must upload the Photo file by November 13. A voting process will run during the Conference for the choice of the best ones.

For the Oral and Poster abstracts accepted: the following formats should be used for the presentations:

a) Oral presentations: the authors must upload a video with a 15-20 min presentation and a flash presentation (up to 3 slides) file (Power point or PDF) by November 13. The video must be in the mp4 format or in ppt(x), and must not exceed 200 MB. It will be available one week prior to the Congress Dates for all participants for visualization. During the Conference, each oral presentation will have 10 min for discussion: 3 min for the flash presentation plus 7 min for Q&A.

b) Poster presentations: the authors must upload a PDF file in a Poster format (1 page) and a flash presentation (up to three slides) file (Power point or PDF)  by November 13. The poster file must not exceed 10 MB, and will be available one week prior to the Congress Dates for all participants for visualization. During the Conference, each poster presentation will have 10 min for discussion: 3 min for the flash presentation plus 7 min for Q&A.

c) Later on, we will provide more information on how to submit theses files.

The Brazilian Society of Rheology invites you to participate in the XVIIIth International Congress on Rheology.

In view of the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil and in rest of the world, the Organizing Committee of ICR 2020 understood that it would be impossible to hold the ICR 2020 in person, as previously planned.

A first attempt to accommodate the pandemic effects was made when we postponed the event to December 2020. However, uncertainties remain, and in view of this rather unusual situation we realized that the only safe decision to make is to change to the virtual format.

We understand that this change will alter the face of the event. However, the dissemination of new ideas, research results, and exhibitors information will be maintained.

The Congress will include plenary lectures and keynote lectures by eminent rheologists, contributed oral presentations, and a virtual poster session. Two short courses will be offered.

The International Congress on Rheology will be partnering with The Society of Rheology for the presentation of the 2020 Bingham Medal to Ole Hassager and 2020 Metzner award to Arezoo M. Ardekani. The Bingham Medal plenary lecture and Metzner keynote lecture will be presented as part of the technical program.

The 2019 Walters Award will be presented to Manuel Alves and Francisco Pimenta at ICR 2020. An award lecture will be included as part of the technical program.

We hope that we can receive you all in Rio some other time, as soon as things get back to normal, and then it will be our pleasure to introduce you to the wonderful attractions of Rio de Janeiro.
